Chute team dedicates gymnasium to outgoing, beloved Principal McHolland

After nearly three decades at Chute Middle School, the time has come for Principal Jim McHolland to retire. For the past 26 years “Mr. Mac” has connected with students, staff, and families alike through silly accents, catchphrases, and an unwavering commitment to prioritizing the needs of students.

Unbeknownst to him, the District 65 Buildings and Grounds team quietly hung a sign in the Chute gym after school let out for the weekend last Friday. On Monday morning, Chute staff, students, and district leaders surprised him by renaming and dedicating the gym as the Jim “Mac” McHolland Gymnasium.

“We felt the gym was an appropriate location as Mac played an important role in building the Chute PE facilities and his many years serving as the District 65 Athletic Director,” says Assistant Principal (and incoming Principal!) Ann Riemenschneider.
