Dear Chute Community -

I hope you are having a great start to the week! As many of you may be aware, Principal McHolland is retiring at the conclusion of the 2024-2025 school year. We are deeply grateful for Mr. McHolland and his nearly three decades of dedicated service to the Chute community. He has made an incredible impact on generations of learners and is beloved by students, staff, and families alike. He has always shown the deepest care for his students, always prioritizing their needs first and foremost. Over 26 years, Mr. McHolland has fostered a tremendous sense of community with an unwavering commitment to growth and inclusion for all students. While we are certainly sad to see him move onto his next chapter, we wish him nothing but joy and success!

To ensure continuity and a seamless transition for our next Chute Middle School principal, we are beginning the search process immediately. The principal position will be posted no later than tomorrow to the D65 Job Board. It is our desire to name a principal by mid-February, which will allow the necessary time and collaboration to successfully prepare for the upcoming school year. 

Opportunities for involvement

The participation of Chute staff and families is crucial to the success of our leadership search! There are two ways to get involved:

  • Leadership Survey: All staff and families are encouraged to make their voices heard on the qualities, skills, and characteristics desired of the next school leader. This Leadership Profile will be used as part of the candidate screening process. This survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and is open now.
  • Serve on our interview committee: Candidates who advance to the second round of interviews will meet with a panel of Chute staff members, family members, and District 65 administrators. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, we strongly encourage you to apply!
    • Committee members must be available 4-7:30 p.m. the week of January 20 for interviews. We will share the final schedule for interviews in advance.

As superintendent, I am charged with making the ultimate recommendation for hire, and I am deeply grateful that members of the school community will lend their voice to this important process. We are committed to transparency and will keep you up to date should there be any changes to the above timeline. We look forward to supporting the entire Chute community to help ensure a seamless transition and a strong start to the 2025-2026 school year.
